#GripSocks
Every athlete has experienced it: you put on your favorite grip socks and suddenly notice they feel a bit less grippy than before. The grip seems to have diminished slightly, the material a bit looser. Not because the socks are of inferior quality, but because they give their all, day in and day out, for whatever you ask of them. Nevertheless, there's a lot you can do to keep them feeling like new for longer.
It starts with a little bit of attention after each training session. Don't throw your socks into the laundry basket with your sportswear, but – however strange it sounds – give them some respect. Wash them at a maximum of 30 degrees, with a mild detergent and definitely without fabric softener. This helps to keep the silicone layer intact, which provides ultimate grip on the field, in the hall, or in the gym. A mistake many people make is using the dryer. Convenient, quick, but disastrous. The heat affects the rubber and causes the studs to harden or even come off. So just air dry them; it takes a little longer, but your socks will remain flexible and firm.
Another underestimated point is how you put on and store your socks. Don't pull too hard on the edge, especially if they are still damp. Start at the toes and gently slide them over your foot. And afterwards, don't leave them at the bottom of your sports bag among wet shirts and muddy shoes. Instead, lightly roll them up and put them aside, for example, in a small fabric pouch.
Why is it all worth the effort? Because well-maintained grip socks continue to do their job: providing stability, reducing friction, and maintaining comfort training after training. You'll feel the difference immediately. You'll move more naturally, with more confidence. And knowing that your gear is well-maintained gives you that extra bit of assurance that helps you perform better.
